Easter 2011

We had a wonderful Easter this year! Cadence loved EVERY minute of it!

She does this every now and then... when she gets really excited about something. And this is actually toned down quite a bit!

Pre-Easter

We went to an Easter egg hunt this morning.  Our ward's Primary did a really good job of making sure everyone got to find some.  Cadence wandered around a little, but then wanted me to carry her.  And since we were so slow we had to go all the way out to the back of the field!  But she had fun.  She LOVED the eggs and didn't want to put them in her basket! :)

An actual picture!  I know, shocking, right?
After the Easter egg hunt, we went to Boise with Derek to get new glasses and then on to Lowes to see if we could get a free tree.  They were out, but we didn't really need another tree anyway! :)  We had Panda Express on the way home **yummy**!

Then we got busy doing some yard work.  Derek worked on his shed and I worked in the garden and smoothed out the dirt in our back corner.  Well, smoothed isn't quite the right word.  I spread it out?  Half-way through I got tired and left a lot of lumpy bumps.  At least it looks better and we can whip out our landscape gardening skills and plant some flowers and shrubs!

One of the Marigolds I planted around my garden boxes.  It's an "Aztec Gold."  I liked the name so I bought the flower.

Favorite Things

Seems like this blog should be renamed "Cadence's Blog." I've been posting so much about her lately, but we've become "those parents" and she's the center of our world.

My first favorite thing makes me laugh just thinking about it! Cadence has started running. ALL THE TIME! And it's hilarious! It's like her body is in two separate pieces joined at her waist and they both pivot in opposite directions while she runs. Oh, and she holds her arms up too.

Second thing: Cadence LOVES getting ready for bed. More specifically brushing her teeth. As soon as I suggest getting ready for bed, she does her crazy run to the baby gate and then once I open it, she's already halfway down the hall. She willingly let's me brush all her teeth an then she takes a turn.

Third thing: she's so good about going down for bed or a nap! Like today, after she had been crying uncontrollably for 15 minutes straight, I suggested that she might need a nap. I was expecting her to cry harder or throw something (that's her new thing lately when she's mad about something), but she immediately ran over to the gate and then on into her room! I set her in her bed and handed her bear blanket to her. She laid right down, snuggled her bear, waved nite-nite to the Easter Bunny sticky on her window and then was quiet! It was almost like she was saying, "what took you this long to figure this out?!" :)

Fourth thing (this one's not about Cadence): I planted a square foot garden! I've got most of my frost tolerant plants in (lettuce, spinach, etc), and now I'm just waiting for it to warm up a bit more so I can plant my "fruiting" plants. I'm pretty excited and can't wait for veggies!

Fifth thing: Derek got me 5 amigurumi crochet books and I've been creating some cuteness around here! Two books have food patterns and three have patterns for animals and toys. Pretty soon Cadence will have a full plushy zoo and a well stocked plushy kitchen! :D

Coupon Extravaganza!

Here's my Albertsons haul. There were actually 2 more OJs and one more carton of eggs, but I gave those away before I got home. There was NO WAY we'd finish four OJs and 2 dozen eggs (plus the 4 dozen we already have in the fridge) in the forseeable future! :) I spent $11.33 and saved $72.90! All 10 packages of hot dogs and the 2 dozen eggs ended up being free, and the bags of frozen veggies and OJs ended up costing 50 cents each. The best part of the whole trip is that I got everything I wanted from one store! Usually I have to go to the two Albertsons in town! The doubler mix up this weekend was a blessing in disguise! :)

I Love This Man!

I am so lucky to have a husband who is so talented and supportive!  He took time out of building his shed to build me some planter boxes.  I'm hoping to have a great square foot garden this year and I'm off to a great start with my boxes!

I Love This Photo

I had heard stories about this vacation my mom took when she was a kid (She's the one in the dress on the right.  Isn't she cute?).  But I've never seen any pictures of the trip!

I love the 50s fashions!

Major Milestone!

Cadence can now low-five AND high-five... when she wants to!  Luckily she's pretty easy going with us at home and will do it the majority of the times we ask.  But when we're out somewhere... well, that's another story! :)
