Vintage Restoration

Because I have a MOUNTAIN of photos to digitize (Don't worry, I'm not complaining.  I love it!), I don't have time to digitize every one of them.  So when I do get to one, it's quite a treat!  Here's my latest.  

I really liked this photo because there's just something glamorous about it!

Nursery

Today was the day we've been waiting for for what's seemed like weeks!  It was our darling daughter's first week in Nursery!  She is usually exceptionally well behaved, but asking her to sit near me and play quietly for 3 straight hours is asking quite a lot.

We didn't prep her for this new adventure at all.  We didn't think about it until about a week or so ago, but last week we visited a cousin's ward so I didn't have the opportunity to do a "test run" with her in Nursery.  So I was a bit worried that she'd cling to me.

I shouldn't have worried because as soon as I walked in the door carrying her, she saw the toys, lunged for them and never looked back!  Even so, I hung around for a few minutes just to make sure she was alright and that the Nursery teachers knew who she was.  Then I left and enjoyed the rest of church uninterrupted! :)

The only mishap was getting her.  I was chatting with a couple ladies after Relief Society.  Derek came by the RS room and I tried to tell him from across the room what room she would be in.  I knew it had to be one of two.  He left and I figured he'd get her.  Well, he came back with no Cadence and a worried look on his face.  He hadn't clearly heard what I had said (too many people in the room).  I told him again and he was able to find her.

New Skills

Cadence can now...

...get up on the kitchen chairs all by her self.
...push and pull doors closed.
...take off sweaters and pajamas with zippers.
..."brush" her hair and teeth.
...make that dumb American Idol McDonalds "Soul Mama" toy play its music all by herself (my favorite one so far, that toy is so annoying).

My Child is Incredible!

6:45am - I go in to wake up Cadence 2-2.5 hours early for her tubes appointment.  I was worried she'd be a bear and not cooperate, but she just blinked twice and then was ecstatic to see me!

7:00am - We arrive at the hospital to check in.  Cadence charms all of the receptionists with her new semi-manipulative smile.  You know the one.  The I'm-so-darn-cute-and-happy-you-have-to-love-me smile.

7:15-8:30am - Derek, Cadence and I wait in the outpatient surgery room for the doctors to come take her into surgery.  She was an absolute gem!  She quietly sat in our laps and watched PBS.  Mostly Sesame Street.  It's her new favorite.  I was convinced we'd have to chase her around the room keeping her from getting into everything, but it was the exact opposite!  And she was adorable in her mini hospital gown!

9:00am - A nurse brings Cadence back to the room.  She was groggy and bawling her eyes out, and didn't want anything to drink.  She even refused a banana popsicle!

9:20am (or sometime around there) - A nurse brings her some tylenol with codine and Cadence calmed right down and watches more PBS.

10:00am - On our way home, we stop by my dad's house so he and Derek could give her a priesthood blessing.  What a blessing it is to have priesthood holders in my life!  She was almost back to her normal, perky self and loved visiting Grandpa so much that she was devastated when it was time to leave!

12:00pm - After about an hour of playing and a bit of jell-o, we risk the nausea and vomiting side effect from the anesthesia and eat lunch.

1:00pm - After no vomiting, I put a very happy Cadence down for her nap.  She goes to sleep without any trouble and sleeps for 3.5 hours!!!

4:30pm - Cadence wakes up and is 100% back to normal.

5:30pm - We eat spaghetti for dinner.

7:00pm - We start a movie and Cadence cycles through my lap, Derek's lap, and playing with toys.

8:00pm - I get Cadence ready for bed, and she goes down without any trouble!
